About The Pittsfield Police Department

The Pittsfield Police Department assumes a leadership role in the community in addressing crime and safety-related needs and issues. This role involves being proactive in fulfilling its responsibilities, not continuing the traditional reactive role. We constantly emphasize and reinforce community policing vision, values, and mission within our agency and throughout the Pittsfield Community.

Over the preceding years, we have created citywide and neighborhood projects for dealing with neighborhood disorder, vacant and abandoned housing, at-risk children, family outreach with the schools and focusing on the ever-changing characteristics of our city. Officers in the field help organize and maintain neighborhood groups, communicate with other city agencies and service providers in order to get service to residents and others.
