All great efforts begin with a plan. During his campaign for mayor, Dan Bianchi unveiled a Plan for Pittsfield that will guide his administration as it begins the next chapter in our city’s history. The plan, which is posted in its entirety on the Mayor’s Vision page, includes the following broad categories:
- The creation of a business development and marketing plan to create new revenue and jobs in Berkshire County.
- The implementation of measurable planning objectives to guide growth.
- Intensified participation in ongoing efforts to combat crime.
- Efforts to ensure that our public schools are strong, vibrant, and provide a great education.
- The advancement of energy conservation, waste reduction, and other green initiatives.
- Establish an open, fair, and transparent government through transparency and inclusion
“All of these initiatives are priorities that will require hard work, commitment from all quarters, and the support of the citizens of this community. In the process, I will not lose sight of the quality of life issues that mean so much to all of you. I plan on partnering with the City Council to make sure your neighborhoods and streets are not neglected, but are maintained in a manner that is devoid of politics. I will manage your tax dollar with the absolute knowledge that your resources are limited, and that that there are many citizens just making ends meet. I pledge to work hard to make this condition better.
This is a healthy, active agenda for me, my administration, the City Council and the people of Pittsfield. As Shakespeare wrote, "action is eloquence." Let's plan on being very eloquent for the next two years!
