Retirement Eligibility
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Pittsfield Contributory Retirement System is governed under one retirement law – Chapter 32 of the Massachusetts General Laws – which establishes benefits, contribution requirements, and an accounting and funds structure. It is mandatory for nearly all public employees who are regularly employed on a full-time basis. Exceptions are: elected officials, state officials appointed by the Governor, and dentists or physicians employed as hospital interns. Member contributions vary depending on the most recent date of membership and are based on regular compensation:
