Parking Map

Parking in Pittsfield is regulated by the Code of the City of Pittsfield.  While the ordinance is fairly specific as what is allowed at each location for paid and free parking our basic parking categories are these:

Public Parking by Permit Only

The City operates 7 lots with Permit parking available:

Lot 1 - This lot is nestled between the Senior Center (Council on Aging) the Pittsfield Boys & Girls Club, The CYC and the YMCA. There are 35 reserved and 3 Handicap spaces available for use by Senior Center members, permits may be obtained at the Senior Center. There are also 38 reserved spaces available for the public by permit parking only.

Lot 2 - This lot is located at the corners of East St and Willis St. adjacent to the Girls Inc. facility. This lot contains 39 reserved and 2 Handicap spaces available by permit only.

Lot 3 - This lot is located on the corner of Fenn St and First St with entrances on Fenn (across from City Hall), First St and Pearl St. There are 145 reserved and 5 Handicap spaces available by permit only.

Lot 4 - This is located on North St between the Greystone building and St. Josephs Catholic Church. There are 15 reserved and 2 Handicap available by permit only.

                      Lot 5

Lot 5 - Mckay St Parking Garage is located just off North St on Mckay St. between the Tierney building and lot 5A, which is located on Depot St. This center is our largest parking area with 912 reserved spaces including 21 Handicap spaces available by permit only. 

Lot 5A - This lot is located just off North St. on Depot St. There are 155 reserved spaces and 6 handicap spaces available by permit only.

                  Lot 7

Lot 7 - Columbus Parking Center located on Summer St. This lot contains 179 reserved
spaces including 7 Handicap spaces available by permit only.

Information  and Permit applications are available in the Public Works and Utilities office located at City Hall.

Free Public Parking

There is free public parking available in 6 of our parking lots and facilities with posted hourly limitations:

Lot 1 – There are 70 -  3Hr spaces are available Monday – Sunday  - Parking is prohibited between the hours of 12:00AM and 7:00AM. The 3 Hr limit is enforced between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00PM.

Lot 2 – 19  - 3 Hr spaces are available Monday – Sunday  - Parking is prohibited between the hours of 12:00AM and 7:00AM. The 3 Hr limit is enforced between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00PM.

Lot 3  - 33 - 90 minute spaces and 42 - 3 Hr spaces are available Monday – Sunday  - Parking is prohibited between the hours of 12:00AM and 7:00AM. The 3 Hr limit and 90 min. limit is enforced between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00PM.

Lot 4 – 13 – 90 minute spaces are available Monday – Sunday  - Parking is prohibited between the hours of 12:00AM and 7:00AM except by special permit. The 90 minute limit is enforced between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00PM.

Lot 5 – There are 54 – 3Hr spaces available inside the facility on the Mckay St level (level 2) and 19 – 90 minute spaces available outside at the same level. This spaces are available Monday to Sunday -- Parking is prohibited between the hours of 12:00AM and 7:00AM. The 3 Hr limit and 90 min. limit is enforced between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00PM.

Lot 7 – There are 90 – 3 Hr spaces inside the parking deck and 21 – 90 minute spaces available in the alley between the deck and the retail buildings. This spaces are available Monday to Sunday -- Parking is prohibited between the hours of 12:00AM and 7:00AM. The 3 Hr limit and 90 min. limit is enforced between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00PM.

Various on street locations exist without fees. North St, South St, West St., Edwin St., East St. Mckay St, Depot St., Fenn St. Allen St. Wendell Ave. Wendell Ave. Ext., Federal St., Eagle St. Bank Row, Park St., Summer St., Union St., Melville St., Bradford St.,  Madison Ave., Kent Ave and Wahconah St. to name a few, have many free spaces with hourly limitations.

Parking Enforcement

                  

   Parking Tickets

The City of Pittsfield’s Parking Control Officers and the City’s Police Officers vigorously enforce the City’s Parking Ordinances and ticket per Chapter 13, Article 1. In General, Sec. 13 – 8.1 Schedule of Fines, Sec. 13 - 8.2 Penalties and Sec. 13 – 9 Disposition of Fines. Parking tickets may be paid or appealed in writing at the Tax Collectors Office in City Hall or mailed to the Tax Collectors Office. If mailing, please do not mail cash , payment can be made by personal check, money order or bank check.

    Towing and Booting

If your car is missing, it may have been towed. All vehicle tows are contracted with private tow company’s and are logged in a police log. To contact the Police Department Dispatch Desk please call  (413) 448-9700 and an officer will assist you.

If your vehicle has been booted, please contact the Tax Collector’s Office between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30PM Monday – Friday( except Holidays). There is a $20.00 boot fee that must be paid, along with all outstanding parking ticket fees and fines.
