WHERE DO I GET A COPY OF MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE? If you were born in Pittsfield, you may obtain your birth certificate at the City Clerk’s Office or at the State Dept. of Vital Statistics:

HOW DO I GET A COPY OF A BIRTH CERTIFICATE FROM PITTSFIELD CITY HALL? You can obtain a copy of your birth certificate in two ways: (1) by coming into the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, or (2) by mailing a request to the City Clerk’s office. IS AN I.D. NECESSARY?
Usually, identification is not necessary. However, in certain circumstances it is required, for example, if your parents were not married at the time of your birth. In this case, you will need to provide photo I.D. with your request.

Under normal circumstances, birth certificates are available to the public. However, there are circumstances in which a birth recorded is considered impounded and it not available to the public. For example, if your parents were not married at the time of your birth.
