Welcome to Pittsfield, the hub of the Berkshires that is bursting with energy with new and exciting attractions, including the newly refurbished Colonial Theatre, which opened in August 2006 with the smash musical Rent; the Barrington Stage Company, well-known for winning two Tony Awards in 2005 for 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and producing so many other Broadway caliber shows; Wahconah Park, which plays host to our hometown team the Pittsfield Dukes and over the past two years has hosted top concerts, including Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.

Historic Pittsfield

History comes alive in Pittsfield for you and your family to enjoy!  The story of the Shakers comes vividly to life at historic Hancock Shaker Village, home to the largest collection of Shaker artifacts in the world. Take a self-guided tour of Pittsfield’s historic downtown buildings, as well as the Pittsfield sites on the African-American Heritage Trail, including the home of 19th century civil rights leader Reverend Samuel Harrison. And don’t miss Arrowhead, the historic home the Berkshire Historical Society and of Herman Melville, where he wrote the great American novel, Moby Dick.
